Internet Guidelines for students

Internet Code of Conduct

  1. Only access the Internet when a member of staff is present
  2. Never tell anyone you meet on the Internet your full name, home address, telephone number or your school's name unless your teacher specifically gives you permission.
  3. Never send anyone your picture or other details without first checking with your teacher.
  4. Never give your password to anyone, even a best friend. Never ask anyone for their password.
  5. Never arrange to meet anyone in person without first agreeing it with your teacher, and get them to come along to the first meeting, which should always be in a public place.
  6. Never stay in a chat room or in a NewsGroup (Usenet group) if someone says or writes something that makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, and always report it to your teacher.
  7. Never respond to nasty, rude or suggestive e-mails or postings in Usenet groups.
  8. Always tell your teacher or parents if you see bad language or distasteful pictures while you are on line.
  9. Always be yourself and do not pretend to be anything or anyone that you are not.
  10. Always remember if someone makes you an offer that seems too good to be true, it probably is not true.
